東印度加爾各答附近一名少女遭同一批人兩度輪暴後，事後歹徒還企圖潑煤油滅口，少女雖然送醫但仍宣告不治。家屬報案後，警方不急著逮人，卻急著火化被害人遺體，再度引爆民眾大規模上街示威抗議。

根據中央社報導，事發地點位於加爾各答外圍北24區縣馬德雅姆格蘭（Madhyamgram）村，一名16歲女孩在去(2013)年10月26日遭輪暴。少女在隔天報案回家的路上卻遭到同一批人二度性侵。

受害人家屬儘管因為害怕搬家，卻還是無法逃離劫難，歹徒為了殺人滅口，在12月23日用煤油潑灑被害人。儘管被害少女經送公立卡爾醫學院附設醫院救治，但在31日仍因灼傷面積過大而宣告不治。

受害少女的父親表示，警方對女兒的遺言置之不理，不肯用謀殺罪起訴被告，警方和幫派份子在少女死亡當天都叫他們離開西孟省，滾回老家比哈（Bihar）省。

他還控訴警方在受理報案後不急於追緝凶手，還企圖強行火化被害人遺體，試圖湮滅證據。

事件經媒體曝光後，大批民眾上街抗議警方不積極辦案；印度警方迫於與論壓力，才逮捕8名嫌犯。
