市場的波動已讓投資人都感到狐疑。美國散戶協會(AAII)於5月7日結束的一周進行的調查結果顯示，28.3%的投資人看漲美國股市，28.7%看跌，但有高達43%的受訪者採中性態度，創逾十年最高比例。

要讓散戶對市場保持中性，不存在多空看法，殊為不易。但過去二個月的美國股市卻辦到了。「股市只是整理，」optionMONSTER公司分析師Jon Najarian說。「個股投資很容易出錯。」

對Najarian而言，推特(Twitter)(TWTR-US)就是明顯的例子。在股價下跌時，他進場買進，違反了自己的紀律，在反彈前，慘遭虧損。

就整體市場而言，歷史顯示在中性氣氛達到高點之後，往往有大行情隨之而來。回顧至2005年，AAII的中性氣氛曾四度上升到38，分別為2013年8月，2011年12月，2010年11月與2011年12月。看看一個月後的S&P 500，每次均出現超過4%的行情。

不幸的是，這項結果並未提供明確的訊號。因為這四次一個月的走勢，有三次上漲，一次則是大跌。但可以確定的是，美國投資人不會一直保持中性。投資人需觀望短期的市場，再決定多空走勢。
