退出和信電訊　辜成允：要在大池塘當大魚

【陳亮諭／綜合報導】台泥集團董事長辜成允曾一度積極發展電信事業「和信電訊」，當時搶標3G執照，卻在2001年12月底宣布退出電信業，辜成允談起「辜氏哲學」說「台泥要在大池塘做大魚，不在小池塘做大魚。」

今日出版的《經濟日報》報導，辜成允說，和信電訊是自己一手創立的，2001年和信電訊正和日本最大通信公司NTT DoCoMo合作，NTT當時欲跟中國移動合作，他扮演中間者的角色。某次他赴中國洽公，拜訪中國移動某位高層主管時，該位高層很生氣的說，GPRS手機推了2個月，只有200多萬用戶；辜成允猶如當頭棒喝，因和信在台灣推行很久，也只有200多萬用戶。他之後思考，台泥在電信產業不可能當大魚，但在水泥產業很有機會，決定賣掉和信電訊，同時把台泥的水泥事業布局延伸到中國，藉由中國市場，成為具有影響力的大企業。
