最近某家航空公司在台灣本地的報紙上，刊登徵求空服員的人事廣告。徵人廣告再常見不過，但是它刊登的是「全英文」的廣告。空服員這個光鮮亮麗、可以到世界各地去旅行的工作，頗令人嚮往。但是你如果看不懂這個英文徵人廣告，恐怕連第一步都難踏出。它的廣告內容如下：

Flight Attendant (Hong Kong Base)

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out inflight safety and security procedures
• Provide excellent customer service which exceeds passengers’ expectations
• Anticipate and respond to passengers’ needs promptly and in a professional manner

Requirements:

• Citizen of Republic of China
• Minimum age of 18
• High School graduate
• Fluency in English and Mandarin (proficiency in speaking, reading & listening).  A third language is preferable.
• Polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and customer-oriented mindset
• A minimum arm-reach of 208cm and physical fitness to pass the pre-employment medical assessment.

從標題Flight Attendant(Hong Kong base)可得知要招募空服員（flight  attendant），而且工作地點是要住在香港。

base在英文裡是「基地、根據地」；在職場上，如果描述一家公司以Seoul-based Jupiter Corporation這樣的說法時，表示這家公司的名字是Jupiter Corporation，而它的總公司位於Seoul（首爾），所以是Seoul-based。

Key Responsibilities是指這份工作的「主要工作內容與職掌」。第一條的Carry out inflight safety and security procedures指的是要「執行航機上的安全與保全程序」。carry out是常用的動詞片語，表示「執行、實現」。而security與procedure也都是職場的重要字。

• security　[sɪˋkjʊrətɪ]　n. 安全、保障、保全
• procedure　[prəˋsidʒɚ]　n. 程序、手續、步驟

第二條的Provide excellent customer service which exceeds passengers’ expectations指的是要「提供超過乘客期待的優質客戶服務」。句中的which是關係代名詞，修飾形容前面的customer service。可見空服員不只是要光鮮亮麗，還要提供比乘客的標準更高的服務品質。
