中颱麥德姆（Matmo）橫掃台灣之後，最引人關注的災情是台東知本鄉的「金城武樹」倒了，縣府為了這棵事關數十萬外來訪客的「地標」，積極護樹！

如果你要向造訪台灣的外國客戶介紹這棵全國知名度最高的樹，以下兩句英文可以派上用場：

This tree has become Taiwan's best known one since the summer of 2013 after a superstar sipped tea in its shade in an EVA Airways TV commercial. The commercial made the 7-meter-tall tree and the surrounding fields one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taitung County.

但是事情總有正反兩面。當地農民因為過量的外來客觀賞「金城武樹」，踐踏農作物、打擾當地安寧，反而高興地表示此為「天意」。

世人「移情作用」的是台東知本的好山好水、是神一般的俊俏男星金城武、亦或是一棵無語屹立的茄冬樹，不得而知。當你要向外國友人用英文表達「但願台東的金城武樹能活下來」，要怎麼說？

Hopefully Taitung's Takeshi Kaneshiro tree will survive.

survive是指「活下來」、「倖存」，用英文解釋是to continue to live after many problems，在困難中挺過來、掙扎著過下去。句中的Taitung's Takeshi Kaneshiro tree指的就是這棵「金城武樹」。但是句中最值得一提的是hopefully這個字，在英文裡，它用來修飾全句的副詞，指「但願」。樹倒後的一片惋惜聲中，相關單位甚至找來了日本天皇御用樹醫來緊急醫治這棵在伯朗大道倒下的「金城武樹」。
