林威助正式與中信兄弟簽約後，外界最關心他現在的訓練狀況，威助說：「之前在台灣時每天都有練習，但回日本後因為場地問題，所以比較少練習技術方面，現在不太可能馬上進入實戰。」
 
林威助表示，自己有跟總教練謝長亨溝通過，希望開季後能先從指定打擊開始，不過一切還是要看教練的安排，至於背號，威助笑說：「我還沒有選，可能還要回去問一下媽媽，她們比較在意背號。」他何時向球隊報到，目前還未確定。（賴德剛／台北報導）
