南非政府為紀念已故前總統曼德拉在取消種族隔離政策上的貢獻，打造一尊高達9公尺的雕像，不過負責雕塑的藝術家竟在曼德拉雕像的耳朵裡「內建」兔子，以代替簽名，目前當局已下令將暗藏的兔子去除。

根據英國《每日郵報》(Daily Mail)報導，曼德拉這尊雕像矗立在南非行政中心所在地的聯合大樓前，不過負責製作的2名藝術家普林斯魯(Andre Prinsloo)與范伏倫(Ruhan Janse van Vuuren)，為了證明雕像出自其手中，竟在雕像耳朵裡雕了一隻兔子。

2名藝術家指出，因為南非政府不允許他們在雕像上留下簽名，因此才想出這個「耳藏小兔」的奇招。而南非政府透過媒體報導得知此事後，也立即下令將這隻兔子除掉，以恢復人權鬥士曼德拉的尊嚴。

而這2名藝術家事後也已向政府與曼德拉家屬致歉，南非當局表示，將會在雕像附近立銅牌，讓藝術家可留下簽名。
