Windows 7 可說是繼 Windows XP 後下一個主宰 PC 作業系統的霸主，不過微軟似乎準備要停售 Windows 7 了。昨日微軟在官方網站上公佈 Windows 7 已在 2013 年 10 月 30 日對零售商停止販售，但隨即又修改了官網，表示停售日期待決定。
昨日 computerworld 網站報導微軟在官方網站上公佈 Windows 7 停售消息，將停止向零售商及 OEM 廠販售 Windows 7 系統許可。對零售商停止販售(retail end of sales) 日期是在 2013 年 10 月 30 日，對 OEM 廠停止 PC 預載(End of sales for PCs with Windows preinstalled) 時間則是在 2014 年 10 月 30 號。換言之 Windows 7 停止銷售的時間剩下不到一年。
不過過沒多久，微軟似乎反悔了。微軟官方網站上關於 Windows 7 的停止販售時間和停止 PC 預載，皆改為待決定 (To be determined)，要不是 Windows 7 停售日期是錯誤的，就是眼見 Windows 7 可說是目前 Windows 作業系統中的中流砥柱，可是微軟持續搶供市占率的重點產品。根據 Net Application 的調查，截至 2013 年 11 月統計全球有 46.6% 電腦運行 Windows 7。總之目前看來 Windows 7 銷售還會持續著。
雖然微軟停止販售 Windows 7 的時間不得而知，但確定 Windows 7 將支援至 2020 年 1 月 14 日。Windows XP 支援日期則是剩下不到半年，到 2014 年 4 月 8 日為止。
