吳淡如好學不倦，除了報名玉石鑑定班外，她上周才剛剛考過國際級咖啡師執照，考題在16分鐘內做出7杯飲料，每杯都要達到標準才能過關，從小考試從不緊張的她，當天意外緊張到有腸躁症，不過最後仍輕鬆過關。

吳淡如幾年前就在宜蘭梅花湖開了「小熊書房」咖啡館，這幾年當老闆娘，假日都在店裡，但她從不煮咖啡，只在店內招呼客人，沒想到最後會甘願走入咖啡世界。

她說，請辭年代「今晚誰當家」後時間充沛，她花了3個月時間上課，每周2堂，並請了私人家教，她說：「現在我每一種咖啡都會做，各式咖啡機都會操作，員工煮的咖啡不夠味，我也會品味出極細微的差別，找出錯誤並予以指導。」吳淡如自在玩味人生，精神令人佩服。
