日本手機大廠索尼 (Sony)(6758-JP) 周三 (14 日) 正式對媒體發布 9 月 4 日IFA (柏林國際電子消費品展覽會) 記者會邀請函，搶在南韓對手三星 (Samsung)(005930-KR) 同日同地新產品發表會前幾小時，預料揭露一系列新產品吸睛，包括新一代旗艦手機 Xperia i1 及日前曝光的特殊外掛鏡頭配件。

三星日前才發出媒體發表會邀請函，趕在 IFA 開幕前，於 9 月 4 日柏林時間晚間 7 點 (台灣時間 5 日凌晨 1 點) 開始介紹新產品。且從邀請函訊息暗示，屆時曝光的產品將是三星期待已久的新一代平板手機 Galaxy Note 3。

如今索尼也將於同日在 IFA 開幕前舉行記者會，時間訂在當地時間下午 4:15 (台灣時間 4 日晚間 10:15)，預定 5 點結束 (台灣晚間 11 點)，距離三星發表會只差 2 小時。

索尼在邀請函上未透露究竟會發表哪個新產品，但外界普遍揣測，主要會是據傳相機功能大幅提升的新一代旗艦手機、代號 Honami 的 Xperia i1，以及創新的外掛式「鏡頭相機 (lens camera)」配件，可將智慧手機及平板電腦轉化為高階數位相機。

而由於 IFA 是消費者電子產品大展，預料索尼同時將揭露的新品，從相機、電視到筆記型電腦都有可能。
