【周佩萱／綜合外電報導】澳洲人權團體「Walk Free Foundation」，17日公布「2013全球奴隸指數」(Global Slavery Index 2013)，調查162個國家，結果顯示目前約有2980萬人，因為貧困、傳統習俗和反奴隸執法不力，生活猶如奴隸，像是背負債務、被迫或被賣掉結婚、還是奴役童工等等。
 
按照人數來看的話，印度有近1400萬人生活在猶如奴隸的狀態下，是全球第一高，第二高則是中國大陸有近295萬人，巴基斯坦有約213萬人位居第三高，按照比例來看的話，西非國家茅利塔尼亞，全國380萬人中有15萬人，約是4%生活如奴隸，為全球第一高，第2到第5分別是海地、巴基斯坦、印度和尼泊爾。

報告中指出特別是在西非和南亞，許多民眾出生在困苦艱辛的環境中難以翻身，還有人口走私販賣和廉價勞工等問題，印度、中國、巴基斯坦和奈及利亞這5個國家是全球奴役問題最嚴重的，5個國家的奴役人數總和，就佔了全球4分之3。人權團體表示儘管世界文明進步，但依舊有許多人生活在不文明的社會中，呼籲全球政府落實改善奴役問題。
