【大紀元2013年11月14日訊】 溫警局正在考慮，是否需要在警察制服上安裝一微型攝像機，作為未來破案與裁決的證據之一。然而，卑詩公民協會（B.C. Civil Liberties Union）卻建議警方停止使用，警察工會也認為不合適，這些技術的費用很高，將導致警察局裁員。
　　
星期二，溫警局收到一份報告，建議在明年中期推出一試驗項目，允許警察在制服上安裝攝像機，拍攝下現場的場景、證據與說話。
　　
該報告的作者Tim Szkopek-Szkopowski認為，案件發生時，嫌犯往往與警察爭辯，不承認自己的犯罪行為，「攝像機可以提供事實證據」，協助警方更好地破案。
　　
卑詩自由公民協會卻希望溫警局考慮，不要使用這些攝像機。該協會主席帕特森（Josh Paterson）認為，警察在案發現場，很難自己按動攝像機的按鈕。
　　
另外，該協會認為如果大面積安裝這類監視設備，也存在隱私問題，還有誰可以查看這些錄像，都是令人關心的問題。
　　
他因此強調說：「使用時需要有強有力的保護措施，而且警察也應該對此錄像負責。」
　　
不過，使用這些攝像機的成本也不低，購買設備、儲存錄像信息與查找證據等，都是不小的一筆開銷。
　　
警察工會主席斯塔姆塔基斯（Tom Stamatakis）擔憂，一旦使用這些設備，警察將面臨裁員的危險。他因此告誡說，民眾是希望街上有更多的警力呢，還是應用這些高科技代替警察？
　　
據悉，埃德蒙頓警察服務局已經測試了這些攝像機，美國洛杉磯決定，在10月份開始啟動使用。卑詩省府維多利亞市警察，早在2009年已經測試了，發現嫌犯承認有罪率提高到91%。 ◇
