好的設計不只是是高管，特別是 CEO 重視的結果，而且是一種整體的需求，是每個人都關心的事情。在這樣的環境下，設計師無需為自己的地位去奮鬥，或者因為好的設計被忽視而心生沮喪。在蘋果，從工程師到銷售人員，都有某種程度的設計師思維，而人力部門也會招聘這樣的員工。
「你看到其它公司挖走了蘋果的設計師，而他們也作出了漂亮的介面，或者有趣的東西，但是那不一定推動他們的業務或者產品。因為設計師做的只是介面部門，但是，要作出一個 Jobs 所說的設計良好的產品，需要『整體』思維。那不僅僅是介面部分，也包括正確的商業模式，正確的行銷和文案，以及銷售的方式。所有這些部分都是關鍵的。」
