【綜合報導】美聯社一項調查顯示，8成美國人面臨失業、貧窮的困境，或者要依賴救濟，在全球化以及經濟衰退影響下，國民即使肯勤奮工作，也沒有任何工作機會。面臨經濟危機的，不再只是少數族裔，連白人也自身難保。

美國經濟衰退、貧富懸殊加劇、工作持續流失，高失業率讓國民生活陷入困境，調查顯示，每5個美國人，就有4人面臨失業、依賴政府津貼逾1年，全國貧窮人口高達4620萬，佔總人口15%，情況在中西部的傳統工業區尤其嚴重。

過往種族問題，是經濟不均的原因之一，但這次調查顯示，白人與非白人之間的貧窮率差距持續減少，有63%受訪白人形容目前經濟惡劣，比例是自1987年來最高。

專家表示，經濟不均，是導致國家教育水平、國民壽命、及貧富懸殊差距日益擴大的主要原因。總統歐巴馬先前表示，當務之急是創造工作機會，改善國民收入不均的狀況。調查估計，如果全美收入不均問題持續惡化，到2030年，全美將有85%勞動人口，面臨經濟危機。
