【大紀元2013年08月07日訊】(大紀元記者嚴海綜合報導)美國政府週二(6日)起訴美國銀行(Bank of America，以下簡稱美銀)，指控其犯有欺詐罪，將已知會變成「有毒廢物」(toxic waste)貸款包裝成抵押貸款擔保證券(MBS)出售。
美國司法部(The Department of Justice)和證券交易委員會(SEC)分別提交訴訟，聲稱美銀刻意淡化其於2008年出售的8.5億美元MBS的風險。
該訴訟不同於其他多數源於次貸危機的訴訟。美銀將這些MBS出售給由美聯銀行(Wachovia)和舊金山聯邦住房貸款銀行(Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco)為首的投資者。美聯銀行後來被富國銀行(Wells Fargo)所收購。這些MBS中含有借給信譽較佳借款人的優級貸款(prime loans)，而不是次級抵押貸款。
